Eligibility:
You can buy a Eurail Pass if you are a citizen of a non-European country. Your citizenship can be proved using a valid passport or an ID card. An ID card in this case is classed as an ID document that allows you to travel across borders. (i.e. A driving License is not accepted.)If you're living in Europe and want to travel with an Interrail pass instead, you need to prove your residence with official government-issued residency papers. This must be a document that clearly shows that you are a resident of the country you live in (e.g. a residence card). Documents such as bills, rental contracts or bank statements cannot be used.Citizens from these countries are not entitled to buy a Eurail Pass: Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Faeroer, Finland, FYR Macedonia, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Vatican.
Validity:
- Available for 3 or 7 days of travel within a 1-month period.
A Eurail Pass can not be used for travel until the first and last day of validity, validating stamp and passport number appear on the Pass. This can be done when issuing a Pass, but will generally be done after arrival in Europe. This is referred to as “validating a Pass”. Validation in Europe can be done by a railway official like a clerk at a ticket window or at a Eurail Aid Office.
Discounts:Child Discount- Children through 3 years of age travel for free, except if a reservation for a separate seat is requested.
Children aged 4 up to and including 11 years of age on their first day of travel get 50% reduction on the full adult fare
Saver Pass Discount
A special Pass for groups of two to five people traveling together in first or second class.
Groups receive 15% reduction per person on the normal Adult Pass price.
Youth Pass Discount
Youth Passes are for individual or group travelers who are 27 or younger on their first day of travel.
This Youth Pass is valid in second class only and gives a discount on the Adult fare.
Youth travelers who prefer to travel in first class, can buy an Adult fare Pass.
Conditions of use:- REFUNDS:
- Handling and/or issuing charges are not refundable. Pass Protection is recommended. Unused rail passes are refundable within one (1) year from issue date (or six (6) months from issue date where so stated) provided they have not been validated, have been cancelled and so stamped at a retail station in Europe prior to the beginning of the validation period. All refunds are subject to a 15% cancellation charge. Partially used or validated passes are 100% non-refundable.
FEES AND CHARGES:
Reservation fees guarantee space on a particular service, but not always a specific seat assignment.
LOST TICKETS:
Lost or stolen rail passes are neither refundable nor replaceable.
Free BenefitsYou can only use a free benefit on a day which you fill in on your Pass (a travel day). For free passage on international routes, the Pass must be valid for the country of departure AND the country of arrival. For domestic travel, your Pass must be valid in the country you travel in.
Reduced FaresYou can use a discounted benefit, without using a travel day on your Pass, provided it is within the overall validity of the Pass. For a reduced passage on international routes, the Pass must be valid for the country of departure OR the country of arrival. For domestic travel, your Pass must be valid in the country you travel in.
